A Russia - a huge unknown

Russia sounds interesting and frightening. Simultaneously, there are available vast areas of wilderness and great sceneries in Russia, and all good opportunities to enjoy the nature.

Day 1 Departure directly from Kuusamo airport, if the flight arrives latest at 2pm. At the airport you will get equipment for safari (outdoor suite, raincoat and trousers, rubber boots and helmets). Before the departure, you pack the quadbikes and get driving lesson on how to drive a quadbike. First stop is at Salpalinja in Finnish side, which is a defence line, built during the World war. This line has recently been revovated. We also have a coffee break and snack there.The trip continues towards Suoperä International border crossing station and after custom formalities driving continues towards Pääjärvi, where arrival latest on 9pm. Accommodation in single or dbl rooms with toilet and shower. Dinner in Pääjärvi. Day 2

Breakfast in place of accommodation. After breakfast quadbike safari will continue to Paanajärvi National park which locates about 60 kilometers from Pääjärvi. Driving will take approximately 2 hours. In Paanajärvi National Park we will make a hiking tour with local guide to Kivakkatunturi, which is 499 meters high fell. From the fell the scenery is beautiful to Pääjärvi-lake and you can even see Kivakkakoski-rapid from there. Also the highest fell of Karelia, Nuorunen (576 meters) can be seen from there. Kivakkatunturi-fell is an ancient sacrificial place of Lappish people and close to the top of the fell there is an ancient place which looks like old women´s face. There are some rest place on the way and down where hiking will start, is a place for fire and outdoor toilet.Returning back to Pääjärvi by quadbikes. Dinner and overnight in Pääjärvi. Visit to Paanajärvi national park can be made also by bus instead of quad bikes. You have to reserve this in advance. Day 3 Breakfast in the place of accommodation. Getting to know the town of Pääjärvi and the marketplace and then you start the return trip back to Finland. The route goes from Pääjärvi trough border crossing place of Suoperä to Kuusamo. During the safari you have a stop and enjoy some picnic lunch. Price for this program starting from: € 750/person + visa. Visa is not included into the price. Program can be arranged between 1.6.-30.9.2009. This program can be made if your flight is arriving latest at 2 pm on day of arrival. If you flight arrives later, then we can adjust the program and have the first night in Finnish side. We can also add trolling in Pääjärvi-lake, where you can catch salmon, trout, pike or birch.
